El The bladder type pulsation dampener could be considered as the most traditional and widespread dampener, since it offers a great performance and is manufactured in a very wide range of sizes and building materials. Competitive in price, it is also easy to install. It is specially indicated for clean liquids without suspended solids and of low viscosity.

It is manually adjustable and usually installed together with back pressure valves to guarantee the correct pressurisation of the air chamber in relation to the working pressure of the pump, being this assembly very common in diaphragm or piston metering pumps.

Advantages

  • High level of efficiency.
  • Can be manufactured in various materials.
  • Competitive pricing.
  • Large variety of models and sizes.
  • Excessive adjustment of working pressure limits efficiency, but does not generate other problems.

Disadvantages

  • Manual adjustment of working pressure.
  • Usually requires the use of other accessories such as back-pressure valves to avoid pressure variations in the system.
  • Sensitive to the presence of suspended solids due to possible breakages of the bladder and also to possible obstructions in the back-pressure valve.
  • Not suitable or not effective for viscous fluids.
